Bill McAllister MA MS FRCS(Urol)

Bill McAllister was first appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford in 2004.

Bill qualified from Cambridge University in 1991. He trained initially in West Yorkshire before moving to London to do a 2-year period of research into the surgical treatment of benign prostatic enlargement. The research ultimately led to a Masters Degree in Surgery from the University of London as well as a number of publications and presentations on this subject. His further urological training was conducted in London and the South-East of England including Barts, The Royal London and St George’s Hospitals where he worked for Professor Roger Kirby.

He was awarded the Keith Yates Gold Medal for his outstanding performance in the FRCS(Urol) specialist examinations and won a travelling scholarship to study laser prostatectomy with Peter Gilling in New Zealand. His main interests include male and female urinary incontinence, children’s urology and benign prostate problems.

He has held a number of managerial posts at Broomfield Hospital including Lead Clinician and Unit Training Director and is currently Clinical Lead for the Urology Cancer MDT.

He is a qualified pilot, avid rugby enthusiast and an aspiring golfer! He is married to Louise, a local dentist, and has three sons.
